"...Blackwater will be the place to fish..."

After what was the biggest flood of the year, levels are now getting back to a fishable level with the last few days. Though still to high for the fly, unless fishing fast sinking shooting heads etc, conditions are ideal for spinning & worm. The Blackwater is now see excellent numbers of fish, after a good July, this latest flood should set us up for a cracking August with the promise of great sport. The Laune is also staring to fish well oweing to higher water levels, which render the draft nets somewhat less effective. The nets will be finishing mid month will give rise to excellent until the end of the season with larger fish in the 8 - 15lbs bracket. I have also had reports that the Suir is starting to fish well with fish to 18lbs taken on the fly in the last few days. I would suggest however that the Blackwater will be the place to fish over the coming weeks, and anyone interested should contact myself or the Blackwater Lodge directly. Tightlines.
