"...An evening session on Friday accounted for a fresh 14lbs fish and a couple of Grilse..."

The Lee is producing some excellent fishing at the moment with a mix of Grilse and larger fish in the 10 -14lbs category. Morning an evening is the time to try the fly with generally more suitable levels for the fly - I have been having some good results using a full floating line, long flouro leader and size 9 fly - darker flies seem to be working better than the usual cascade patterns. An evening session on Friday accounted for a fresh 14lbs fish and a couple of Grilse on the above outfit. This was with an extra 1.5 feet of water. I returned on Saturday morning early and took a fresh 8lbs fish and a coloured 12lb fish that went off like a train. The Blackwater has also been fishing very well since the start of the week - with a nice mix of grilse and larger summer Salmon. Water levels are up a little - around the 50cm mark @ Ballyduff - just nice for the fly - Fish will be spread throughout at this level - though between Fermoy & Mallow should be perfect for the fly now.
