While the Blackwater had been enjoying some good sport on the lower beats over the previous weeks owing to the lower water conditions with some fine Spring fish being caught. The last week has seen a return to more typical Irish Spring weather with plenty of rain leading to some good water levels on the Lee with discharges from the Inniscarra Dam. Several Fish were seen traveling through today, Paul Hanley having a good start to his season with cracking fish of just over 12lbs and lost a further two fish, one of which was thought to be in the high teens. A few nice trout were also seen to be moving having caught one myself of about 2lbs. Hopefully fish will now start to be caught on a daily basis while good water levels persist. The Blackwater should also continue to produce some good fish once the level settle a bit and clarity improves. Conditions just be right for the Fly by the weekend, at which point I hope to open my own 2010 account. Tightlines, K.
