Now that water levels have dropped back to excellent fishing levels, A good run of Salmon have been seen running the Munster Blackwater over the last week, with a few fish caught also. While fishing one of the lower beats yesterday I saw several fish moving through the beat very quickly, though unfortunetly I failed to connect with any. Though with the water now at 9.5 degrees celcius, I'm wondering as to wether I was fishing too big a fly too deeply. I think next time I'll try fishing a smaller fly a little shallower and a bit faster ? Reports of fish being caught on the Laune and Lough Leane are still coming in though more from the lake than the river, which is quite low now and the fish are reluctant to hold and seem to be going straight through to the lake. I have heard of a few fish also being caught on the river Lee including some fine fish around the 14lbs mark. As we move into March, numbers of fish entering the systems should increase, providing better sport. Tighlines !
