"...Salmon in the 6 - 10lbs range at the moment,..."

After several weeks of high dirty floods, the river are now back in cracking order with some excellent fish now running most of the rivers. The Munster Blackwater certainly seems to be at the forefront of this with goods numbers of both larger summer Salmon & Grilse. The river is just coming back into good fly order and with excellent prospects is definitely worth a cast. The river Lee has some nice summer Salmon in the 6 - 10lbs range at the moment, having caught 2 myself today on the fly(see photo). The are also good reports of Grilse entering the system over the last 2 days, so good fishing can be expected over the coming days, especially with the more settled weather. Fly & Shrimp will work best. The Laune in Kerry is also enjoying a good run of Fish at the moment, again both a mix of Grilse and larger fish. Though still a little high for floating line tactics, spinning or fast sinking line will give the best results. Fishing should be excellent from now till the end of the season, with fresh fish constantly entering the rivers. Interestingly everything is about 10 days later then it was last year. Tightlines.
